Woah!  That's a lot of works - look forward to seeing them.

Got 4 of them started and on the wall... I think acrylic has become too much of a thick substance to use well on portraits and fine details. I'm liking gouache and pastel with ink and charcoal at the mo.... I got some oils recently but am too broke to go upmarket with all that stuff. The 'Reject Shop' chain has amazing value on cheap canvasses.. I got 19 canvas varying sizes for around $44  (about 2$ a canvas!)

Cool.  My latest painting, I used cheesecloth to add texture to it and found it hard going painting with acrylics over it, so what I did was go and get some interior paint samples in desired colours - much thinner paint, greater ease of coverage - so I've got a mixture of house paint and acrylic on the canvas.

The sample pots were only $10.58 for 500g.  Actually, one of them I picked up for half price - pre-mixed, they were just looking to clear some stuff.  So, might be an idea to add to the list for ferreting out cheap supplies - the good hardware store.  Also, probably quite cheap to get boards of mdf or whatever, cut into smaller sizes as desired, for use as a canvas.  Sometimes they have off cuts they practically will give away.

Yeah, you can get some pretty cheap deals on canvasses over here too.  I have a bunch of small ones I've been sitting on for ages.  Generally like to work with a larger canvas though.

Used gouache before - they give a good vibrancy, though I've yet to seal those works with a varnish or something (that being the primary issue, you can't get them wet or they run).  Found that gouache, if applied reasonably thickly, cracks in time as well.  Never used pastel with ink and charcoal.  Only used oils sparingly - not confident with that medium, but I like the blending options presented by it.

Meanwhile, in non art-related news, I just got through the worst of a nasty bout of food poisoning.  Gotta say, I've had more fun.  Bed ridden for 28 hours.  Still feeling completely wiped, but no more fever and appetite creeping back. :faint:

Yeck  we just had flu.. about 2 weeks of it .  The air has been humid and stuffy which makes you yearn for sea-air to fill up on....

Yeah,  I wondered if it might have been flu.  Still not feeling great.  It felt like flu - with fever and all your body organs and skin hurting.  Took about 28 hours for the fever to break.  Stomach is still not back to normal today - been eating, but yeah, got a bit upset again after having a second cup of coffee, so backed off.  Still feeling quite weak.  Could be flu.  Haven't had any cold like symptoms, but you don't always I suppose.

Well, I had sea air yesterday, only about 5 hours or so after my fever broke, out doing a job, didn't do me any blimmin' good - probably cos I shoulda been resting.  Oh well. I rested today. Sleepy
